Star Wars: Episode VII hasn’t even come out yet and news about Episode VIII is already starting to come out. Benicio Del Toro has stated that he will be the villain of the new-new chapter of Star Wars.
In speaking with spanish site, rac1.org, Del Toro confirmed the rumors going around saying that he has joined the series:
“Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March. I’m like the villain, but we’ll see.”
After being a villain in Disney’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, now Del Toro will be the villain in Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VIII. It is unknown the extent of the role his villain will play, whether he will be a minor-villain or the main villain of the movie. It will also be interesting to see his relationship with Episode VII‘s villain Kylo Ren, if there is one to be had, now that a new villain will be joining the mix.
Given Del Toro‘s reputation, it is safe to assume that he will be a main villain of Episode VIII. We will find out in the month, years, ahead as Episode VIII is set to release May 2017; Rogue One set to release December 2016; and Episode VII releasing this year, December 16, 2015.
