With less than 2 weeks to go until the release of Disney’s Infinity 3.0, we’re asking you if you’re ready to hit the ground running. With so many different versions coming out, as well as figures, it’s a tad confusing if you don’t do some research. But fear not, we’re with you and we’ll help you along the way. Below you’ll be given a crash course on what to expect regardless if you’re familiar with the brand or new to it, what’s available for pickup on launch and what’s coming letter down the road.
So let’s get to it.

Do you already own Disney Infinity 1.0 or 2.0?
* If you don’t own any Infinity sets and are new, head on to the next section. *
Chances are if you’re picking up Infinity 3.0, is that you already own 1.0 or 2.0. And if so, then you may be ahead of the game, as you already have an Infinity base. However there are specifics:
Own an Infinity base for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii u or Wii U? If you do, then you can use that base for Infinity 3.0 and mix/match. Meaning you use the base from either of those platforms, so if you own it for the PS4 but want to play Infinity 3.0 on the Wii U, you can do it with no issues. That also includes using them on the PC, since the PC doesn’t have its own Infinity base. However if you own the Xbox 360 or Xbox One versions of Infinity 1.0 or 2.0, but want to play 3.0 on a different system, then you’re going to have to purchase a new base as the Xbox bases are system specific. Don’t mix them up.
Moving on to the figures, toy boxes and power discs. Sadly the Infinity 3.0 items/accessories are not “backwards compatible”, meaning they won’t work on previous versions of Infinity. However, if you own any Infinity 1.0 or 2.0 figures or power discs, you’ll be able to use them in Infinity 3.0. Sadly both Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 play sets look to be out of the question and are not compatible with Infinity 3.0.

New to the Disney Infinity World?
Ah, a newcomer. Welcome to the world of Infinity! Disney Infinity 3.0 looks to be the best out of the all the games in the series, with the enhanced combat system (thanks to Ninja Theory), bigger worlds and even more sexier and fan favorites when it comes to figures. I mean have you seen that Iron Man Hulk Buster or Tron 2.0 figures? So for you, the decision is going to be pretty straight forward as you’ll need a base to play the game, but you do have some options if you plan on playing on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4.
While all the platforms (PS3/PS4/Xbox 360/Xbox One/Wii) have access to the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack, PlayStation owners can also pick up the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition: Star Wars Saga Bundle. This is a special edition that costs about $50 dollars more, however I feel it gives you more bang for the buck (no not the animal).
In addition, if you preorder the title you’ll also score the Toy Box Takeover expansion disc as well.
Let’s compare the versions:
Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack – (PS3/PS4/Xbox 360/Xbox One/Wii) – retails for $64.99
- (1) Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Video Game (Unlocks Play Set and Toy Box Modes)
- (1) Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Base
- (1) Star Wars Figures: Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker
- (1) Star Wars Twilight of the Republic Play Set Piece
- (1) Web Code card (unlocks content for PC/mobile)
Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition: Star Wars Saga Bundle – PlayStation Only (PS3/PS4) – retails for $114.99
- (1) Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition base, (1) Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition video game software
- (1) Star Wars Twilight of the Republic Play Set piece, (1) Ahsoka Tano figure, (1) Anakin Skywalker figure,
- (1) Star Wars Rise Against the Empire Play Set piece, (1) Luke Skywalker figure, (1) Princess Leia figure
- (1) Boba Fett figure
- (1) Web Code card (unlocks content for PC/mobile)
You as you can see, PlayStation owners have a choice to make. Get the standard version that includes two figures or the Saga Bundle, which includes five characters and the Star Wars Rise Against the Empire Play Set piece. That’s an extra $34.99 tossed in plus the Boba Fett character which isn’t for sale. Everyone else, you’ll simply pick up the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack. That’s also including three characters that won’t be available for sale at launch as well, so you’ll get to call first on your favorite websites / communities if you pick this version up.
But there’s more! There’s a whole of figures, power disc sets and play sets to choice from, however some won’t be available at launch. Let’s take a look at them.
Figures
All Disney Infinity 3.0 figures will cost you $13.99, power disc sets at $9.99 and play sets at $34.99, unless you’re a member of some gaming club that drops the price. I recommend the Best Buy Gamers Club, as it drops the price of all gaming related items by 20 percent and is currently selling for $30. I don’t get any kick back from them but I did want to pass the savings along, especially if you buy a lot of games. It basically pays for its self after 2-3 games.
