#2: John Cena, Meet Kevin Owens.
Now this…this was something. John Cena comes out for his traditional United States Championship open challenge, talking about the battle he had with Rusev in Sunday’s “I Quit” match, and how he stood up for ‘MURICA.
Enter NXT Champion Kevin Owens.
Needless to say, the excitement was real when Owens walked out into the arena. He gets into the ring, and pretty much calls everyone who doesn’t know him a waste of his time.
Now, before I move on, let’s rundown the list of things you DON’T do in front of John Cena (courtesy of TVTropes.)
- Good God, don’t ever try to harm Zack Ryder in front of Cena. Just ask Jack Swagger.
- Nor should you compare him to the New York Yankees in his hometown.
- Also, never, ever insult or talk down to the audience or fans in his presence. This is almost a sure fire way to piss him off.
- NEVER insult the American troops.
- Or insult America itself in any way.
Needless to say, Kevin Owens committed Cena Cardinal Sin #3, and Cena let him f*cking have it. Cena warns the NXT Champion that you never consider the fans a waste of time, and pretty much calls Owens a scared little boy staring down the barrel of the smoking gun that is John Cena (not those words, but yeah, pretty much.) Cena extended the challenge to Kevin Owens to fight the United States champion, and Owens responded with a pop-up powerbomb for John’s trouble, but not before Owens stated that he would fight Cena…but on his own terms.
Later that night, Reneé Young catches up with Kevin Owens, who announces that the Authority gave him a match against John Cena at Elimination Chamber.
