We all remember the classic Disney animated film, Mulan, which came out in 1998, right? Well, it seems like Disney wants to continue the live action rendition trend of their animated films with this classic movie.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Disney recently purchased a script from writing team Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek, which focuses on the legend of Fa Mulan, the legendary woman warrior which the 1998 animated film is based upon.
It’s reported that We’re the Millers producers Chris Bender and J.C. Spink are producing the film.
Disney’s live action push comes off the heels of a wildly successful run of Cinderella, starring Lily James, which in its first three weeks, grossed $336 million worldwide, 2010’s Alice in Wonderland with a $1 billion worldwide gross, and the Angelina Jolie classic, Maleficent, which grossed $760 million.
Other upcoming live action remakes of Disney films include The Jungle Book and the Alice in Wonderland sequel in 2016, Beauty and the Beast, featuring Emma Watson in 2017, and a Tim Burton-led live action Dumbo.
