Shortly after the Guardians of the Galaxy film was met with success and applause back in 2014, Marvel announced a Guardians of the Galaxy animated series as part of the lineup for Disney XD’s Marvel Universe (yet to be given an Earth designation). Today, Marvel announces their plans to reveal more information later this week.
What we do know, is that animated series will have a shared universe with shows like Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. The Guardians of the Galaxy has already previously interacted with Spidey and the Avengers prior to the show’s announcement. The Guardians roster for the animated series will feature the charismatic Star-Lord (who?), Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, and Drax the Destroyer. This is the same roster as their Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth 1-99999) counterparts. The “main” universe, Earth 616 also has a similar team, but with the addition of Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Agent Venom (Flash Thompson).
