Granted, I haven’t had a chance to play the game yet, but from what I’ve seen so far, I’m excited. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Sega’s Virtua Racer, both in the arcades and on the 32X home version. It’s one of Sega’s better racing titles, though I felt it never gained the following or reception that Sega’s other arcade racers did.
Rozz Games is determined to get SPGP Super Polygon Grand Prix on Steam as an early access title. From there, they will add features, tweak the game, and make it the best it can be. So far, local couch co-op, online leaderboards, and a progression mode will be available early in early access.

SPGP Super Polygon Grand Prix will be hitting the track towards the end of July 2024, on Steam. So, if you enjoyed old-school racing games such as Virtua Racing, Outrun, and countless others, you might want to wishlist and give SPGP Super Polygon Grand Prix a spin when it gets released.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s, immersed in the world of arcade racers. During those days, you couldn’t goto an arcade and not bump into a racing game and it shaped my gaming life. I still long for those days, both at the actual arcades and on home consoles. Nowadays, all we get is the occasional indie game. Not to discredit Forza Horizon—it’s an amazing game—but it’s not the same. It’s open world and leans towards arcade-sim racing.
I want an arcade racer where all I do is zip around a circuit track, flying as fast as I can and disregarding physics and realism. Those who played games like F-Zero, Top Gear, Daytona USA, Cruis’n USA, and Ridge Racer know exactly what I’m talking about. There’s nothing like the thrill of those types of racing games, and it seems that developers have all but forgotten that fans of that style still exist.
This is why I’m ecstatic to see more indie developers picking up the mantle and running with it. In the case of SPGP Super Polygon Grand Prix, I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the game when it drops later this month. Until then, be sure to check out the Super Polygon Grand Prix page on Steam.
